We’re pleased to share that emergency bleed kits have been donated to the district on behalf of the Forest of Dean Community Safety Partnership, with the aim of improving public safety and emergency preparedness in our communities.
The kits have been recently purchased from HeartSafe — a specialist provider of emergency bleed control solutions — and are now being installed in key public locations across the Forest of Dean. Including Newent Library and Newent Recreation Ground.
But what is a bleed kit?
A bleed kit is a compact, easy-to-use emergency kit designed to help control severe bleeding following a traumatic injury. Each kit contains essential items such as trauma dressings, gauze, a tourniquet, gloves, and instructions — all aimed at stopping or slowing blood loss until professional medical help can take over.
In situations such as road accidents, violent incidents, or serious falls, every second counts. By giving members of the public access to these kits, we’re empowering individuals to respond quickly and potentially save lives.
This initiative is part of a broader commitment to supporting public health, building community resilience, and equipping everyday people with the tools and confidence they need in emergency situations.
We are incredibly grateful for the donation from the Forest of Dean Community Safety Partnership and proud to be part of a district that prioritises the wellbeing and safety of its residents.
